Nora Moosnick

Dr. Moosnick is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Kentucky.
Several classes—and a Living Learning Community in Social Justice, LEXengaged, that she
directed—served as ground zero for this work. She is the author of two books, Adopting Maternity:

White Women Who Adopt Transracially or Transnationally (Praeger 2004) Arab and Jewish Women in Kentucky: Stories of Accommodation and Audacity (University Press of Kentucky 2012, 2021). This project is chronicled in a forthcoming book, Campus Candor: Students’ Stories Unmasked (Cognella2023).

Bio

COLLABORATORS

Victoria (“Tori”) Cruz-Falk

Tori is a 2020 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a BA in Spanish and International Studies. She is originally from the Washington DC area, but currently resides in Lexington where she is a political/community organizer and works with City Council.

Emily Keaton

Emily is pursuing studies in sociology and social work at the University of Kentucky and is a Chellgren Research Fellow. She is originally from Pikeville, KY and works in community organizing and performing arts with a goal of continued improvement in Appalachian health equity.

Saturn Starshooter

Born and raised in Chicago, Saturn is a visual artist in Lexington with a passion for makeup and critical
thinking. With a background in Drag and Burlesque, they find that they are steered by studies in Gender
and Women's Studies and African/Africana Studies (UK 2021). All in all, they are a beautiful weirdo who continually practices empathy.

Sarah Jane Webb

Sarah Jane Webb is a food and documentary photographer. She uses composition and movement to create photographs that carry wonder and emotions she senses in a place or people. Sarah Jane is a loving wife, proud momma, and nature enthusiast.
